Found this though. I'd rather see the program fold, and he not have to sit out a year, where he ends up is anyone's guess. Wisconsin would be a good fit for him though.

Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey: The no vacancy sign is on

Word out of Bowling Green is that sophomore center David Solway is looking to transfer, and a source confirmed the Green Bay product is looking at the Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team.

But it's highly unlikely Solway will end up in Madison, even though he's a proven Division I commodity, having totaled 12 goals, 12 assists and 24 points for the Falcons last season.

UW is overloaded with forwards as it is. There are 19 if you count all the players from 2008-09 who have eligibility (15) and the four recruits who have signed national letters of intent.

That number could drop if junior John Mitchell turns pro, but sources indicate Minnesota and Toronto, the two NHL clubs thought to have the most interest in the free-agent left winger from Neenah, aren't convinced he's ready.

Besides, if a bona fide opening came up on the UW roster at forward, a greater priority might be Mark Zengerle, a 2010-11 recruit who tore up the British Columbia Hockey League with Salmon Arm (31-66-97 in 62 games) this season.

Solway, 21, would be a strong addition to any lineup because of his emerging offensive skills. But unless there are major shifts in the UW roster, it won't be with the Badgers.

Yes, it would help both guys out if the program folded in that they wouldn't lose a year of eligibility but it would pretty much screw Grover and Rodriguez, what are the chances they're going to find a quality spot at such short notice?

I'll leave the whole "Is BG a quality spot to begin with?" argument for later though.

Have a pretty good idea why Sexton was quick to sign a contract now.

Apparently BG was once a quality hockey program, but they have been brutal for far too long. They still get some nice recruits, but end up losing out on a lot because the program hasn't been successful for so long. They had a goalie from the NTDP committed and a couple months before the season, he signed in the OHL.

If BG would have cut the program, I'm sure Grover would have been able to land elsewhere and Rodriguez would still be eligible for junior hockey. Of the 3 that left, Bailen is the only one who could return to juniors and I'm sure Indiana would love to have him back.

Solway returns to BGSU hockey team

Friday, 01 May 2009
Bowling Green has added one of the best two-way forwards in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association to its roster. David Solway is returning to the Falcons, the sophomore center confirmed Friday. He announced in early April he was leaving the team because of the uncertainty over the program. The program has been targeted for possible elimination by the university, which is facing a deficit of $6-$10 million in its next budget. The athletics department also is attempting to cut $500,000-$1 million from its $16 million budget for next year. A decision is expected by the end of June. But Solway, who had 12 goals and 12 assists in 38 games this season to go along with solid defensive play and penalty-killing, is returning for what he said were “personal reasons.” He declined to be specific. Although Solway announced his plans to leave, he remained in school and has a 3.62 grade-point average with a major in business/finance. The spring semester ends next week. “When it came down to crunch time the last couple weeks, it became really hard to leave,” Solway said. “I felt in my heart this is where I wanted to be. I realized how good I had it here.” The native of Green Bay, Wis. was rumored to be transferring to a Western Collegiate Hockey Association school. Among the rumored schools were Wisconsin, Colorado College and Minnesota-Duluth. BG coach Scott Paluch wouldn’t allow Solway to transfer to another CCHA school. He informed Paluch of his decision to return Wednesday and told his teammates after that. “Everyone’s been very understanding and I really appreciate that,” Solway said. The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder has been an excellent skater, defensive player and penalty-killer throughout his career. But his offensive skills have blossomed at BG where he also had nine goals and six assists in 37 games as a freshman. This season, he joined classmate Dan Sexton and senior Brandon Svendsen on one of the CCHA’s best lines. Sexton has since signed with the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks. “It’s such a unique set of circumstances,” Paluch said. “He’s a big part of our team and we’re just really glad he made the decision to play here.” When asked if Solway’s return was an indication, the university wasn’t going to cut the program, Paluch said: “We haven’t received a definite answer, but there are a lot of positive events happening and this is another positive happening.” Solway was one of three Falcons who decided to leave the program in early April, the others being freshman defenseman Nick Bailen and sophomore forward Patrick Tiesling. Bailen was one of BG’s best blueliners, while Tiesling provided a physical presence and solid defense, and was a member of the penalty-killing unit. When asked if Bailen and Tiesling would return now that Solway is coming back, Paluch said he had “no indication of that.”
